Vickie Westbrook

Vickie WestbrookWhen Vickie Westbrook was growing up, college was never discussed, nor did she think it was a possibility. Vickie dropped out of school at 16, obtained her GED and entered the workforce. Her GED instructor encouraged her to go to college and she started taking classes to become an accountant. She also became a wife and mother that year and then a single mother. Life happened and she stopped out of college.

In 2005, she remarried, and she and her husband blended their families and welcomed a baby girl. She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for 15 years, home-schooling her youngest daughter until 2022, when her daughter went to college.  By that time, Vickie had a new dream of farming their family’s land. She returned to college, enrolling in Wallace State’s Horticulture/Agriculture Production program. She earned scholarships during each semester, and as a student she was offered a part-time position working in the greenhouses and in landscaping. That part-time job has since become a full-time position.

Finally, after 27 years, Vickie is a college graduate, earning her associate degree as well as two certificates.

Vickie, congratulations on all that you have accomplished and thank you and the entire Wallace State landscaping staff for all you do to make the college a beautiful, award-winning campus.
