HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will host two events for high school students who are interested in learning more about Dual Enrollment programs at either the main campus in Hanceville or at the Oneonta Academic Center.

The first event will be held on Monday, April 6 at the main campus in Hanceville. The Dual 2 Degree Information Night will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the James C. Bailey Center.

The next event will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at the Oneonta Academic Center. The Oneota Dual Enrollment Information Session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in room 141 of the Academic Center.

Both events are geared toward prospective students and their parents or guardians who wish to get more information about all that is offered through Dual Enrollment.

“This will be a great opportunity for high school students to learn about dual enrollment opportunities and how they can get ahead as they prepare to continue their education or enter the workforce,” said Lauren Wilson, Director of Oneonta Instructional Site and Dual Enrollment at Wallace State.

Dual enrollment is open to students who have completed the ninth grade and allows them to take courses that count toward both high school and college credit for a future degree. This gives students the ability to accelerate their education, with some even earning an associate degree and graduating from college before their high school graduation.

Wallace State’s Dual 2 Degree program offers pathways through its Career Academy and its Transfer Academy. The Career Academy offers students the opportunity to take courses in numerous technical and health science programs, while the Transfer Academy affords students the opportunity to complete many of their core classes and be ready to transfer to a four-year university, where they could potentially start as a junior.
