Students enrolled in the Salon and Spa Management program at Wallace State's Oneonta Technical Center practice hair styling techniques. The program will begin offering services to the public when the Spring 2026 semester starts in January.

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Salon and Spa Management program is growing with a new Barbering option offered at its main campus in Hanceville. Salon services will also soon be available to the public through its new site in Oneonta.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding once again,” said Sabrina Flanigan, chair of the Wallace State Salon and Spa Management program. “Barbering has become a high-demand professions with strong earning potential. And, as we are entering our second semester of cosmetology classes at the Oneonta site, we’re thrilled to begin offering salon services to the public.”

Barbering courses will launch in Spring 2026 at the Hanceville campus. Recognized a “practice art,” barbering is increasingly sought after as communities look for professionals who blend technical skill with creativity and exceptional customer service.

Wallace State’s new Barbering program is a timely response to industry needs, offering students a pathway into a rewarding career with strong job prospects and entrepreneurial potential, said Jerry Murcks, Dean of Applied Technologies at Wallace State.
