WSCC Alumni Association Offers Day Trip for The Sound of Music

Hanceville, Ala. — North Alabama will come alive with The Sound of Music when the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein musical is performed by the Broadway Theater League (BTL) of Huntsville early next year. The Wallace State Alumni Association is inviting fans to join a special day trip to experience this timeless classic.
The Alumni Association will host the trip on Saturday, Jan. 31. The $170 package includes round-trip transportation, admission to the musical and brunch at The Grille on Main in the Village of Providence. Reservations close Jan. 15, and space is limited.

The critically acclaimed North American tour is directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien (Hairspray). This vibrant and romantic tale of Maria and the von Trapp family captivates audiences with universal themes of love, resilience and the power of music, according to BTL.
Upcoming Alumni Association Trips
Southern Coastal Charm Tour — March 16–20
Next on the agenda is a five-day trip to South Carolina, featuring four nights in Beaufort, S.C. Activities include a horse-drawn carriage tour of Beaufort, a visit to the Parris Island Museum with lunch on the Marine base, a day in Hilton Head, a dolphin-watching and wildlife boat cruise, and more.

General Jackson Showboat Midday Cruise — June 16
Enjoy a day trip to Nashville, Tenn., for a scenic cruise down the Cumberland River aboard the General Jackson Showboat. The experience includes round-trip transportation, a buffet lunch, and the Tennessee Legends show — a musical celebration of the sounds that made Tennessee famous.

Christmas Spectacular Tour — December 2026
End the year with a five-day holiday adventure to Branson, Mo., and Little Rock, Ark. Highlights include three performances — The Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound Theater, Christmas Wonderland at King’s Castle Theater, and Clay Cooper’s Country Express. Guests will also enjoy a golf cart Christmas lights tour at Top of the Rock, view the Giant Gingerbread House display at Chateau on the Lake, and more.

Membership Benefits
While membership is not required to register for Alumni Association trips, members receive $100 off overnight trips. Membership is $30 per year and open to all.
