The Cullman Omniplex will be the center of junior-college volleyball this weekend as Wallace State (16-2) welcomes a strong lineup of opponents for its annual Fall Bash Tournament. The Lions will be joined by Bevill State, Vincennes (IN), Itawamba (MS), and Walters State (TN) in a two-day showcase that will feature inter-conference battles and potential postseason previews.

Wallace State Lions (16-2)

Wallace State enters the weekend as one of the hottest teams in the NJCAA. Head coach Randy Daniel has leaned on a balanced attack and the leadership of veteran players to build momentum early in the season.

Players to watch:

  • Sofiia Sobol – A go-to hitter who can take over matches with her power.
  • Kenzie Noles – Another reliable offensive weapon who has delivered consistently in recent weeks.
  • Ali Price – The Lions’ primary setter, already racking up impressive assist totals.
Cheyenne Lucas – Provides efficiency at the net and steady production.

Wallace has been sharp defensively as well, with Abby McDonald and others stabilizing the back row. Playing at home, the Lions will look to extend their strong start and make a statement against out-of-state challengers.

Bevill State Bears (8-7)

An in-state rival and ACCC opponent, Bevill State enters with a winning record and plenty of confidence. The Bears have shown flashes of strong attacking play and will be eager to measure themselves against Wallace on neutral courts.

  • Key factor: Bevill’s ability to serve aggressively and keep Wallace out of system could be the difference in a potential upset bid.

Vincennes Trailblazers (14-1)

The team with perhaps the most eye-catching record in the field, Vincennes has long been a staple among competitive Midwest programs. At 14-1, the Trailblazers arrive in Cullman with momentum and a reputation for size and athleticism at the net.

  • Key factor: Expect Vincennes to rely on a balanced offense led by multiple hitters in double-digit kill averages. Their blocking game will be a major test for Wallace and Walters State.

Itawamba Indians (5-6)

At just below .500, Itawamba enters as a dangerous underdog. The Indians have played a challenging early schedule, which has prepared them for tournaments like this one.

  • Key factor: Itawamba’s defensive intensity. They’ll need strong back-row play to slow down teams like Wallace and Vincennes. If they can extend rallies, they have the hitters to score in transition.

Walters State Senators (7-4)

A respected program from East Tennessee, Walters State brings depth and balance into the Fall Bash. Their record may not stand out as much as Vincennes or Wallace, but the Senators are known for playing disciplined volleyball and executing fundamentals.

  • Key factor: Walters State often spreads its offense across multiple hitters, forcing opponents to defend the whole net. Their consistency makes them a dangerous draw.

Matchups to Watch

  • Wallace State vs. Vincennes – A potential highlight match of the weekend, featuring two teams with combined records of 30-3. This could be a preview of postseason intensity.
  • Bevill State vs. Itawamba – Two teams looking to find traction against regional competition. This match could be one of the most competitive of the tournament.
  • Walters State vs. Wallace State – The Lions will have to stay sharp against a disciplined Walters squad that thrives on minimizing errors.

Final Word

With Wallace State carrying one of the best records in the NJCAA and Vincennes arriving with just one loss, the Fall Bash promises high-level volleyball across the board. Fans at the Cullman Omniplex can expect long rallies, hard hitting, and plenty of drama as five programs from four different states square off.
