Wallace State’s Women Survive and Advance to ACCC Title Game Against Gritty Calhoun Team

The Wallace State Lions rode into Huntsville for the ACCC conference tournament at UAH as the number two seed. The number three seeded Calhoun Warhawks defeated Coastal Alabama 65-55 to advance to the conference semifinals to set the stage for Friday night’s matchup.
Kameron Sanders got the scoring going early for the Lions with a three pointer which led to Wallace State starting the game on a 12-5 run. By halftime, the Lions were in good shape, having the lead over the Warhawks by 10 points. While Calhoun won the second half, Wallace State came out victorious with the score of 48-41.
Nylaa Fuller played a major factor in the victory for the Lions, posting a double-double. Fuller shot 86 percent from the field, as she amassed 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Sanders finished second in scoring for Wallace State, totalling 12 points off of 4-8 shooting. The guard also grabbed four rebounds en route to the win.
Idaysia Mercer also reached double figures in scoring Friday afternoon against Calhoun. She ended the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocks of her own.
The Wallace State Lions will face off against the number one seeded Bucs from Shelton State at 1 p.m., Saturday afternoon for the ACCC championship and a bid to the NJCAA DI tournament.
