Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College announces the successful reaccreditation of its Diagnostic Imaging program by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The continuing accreditation was granted for eight years, the maximum period for which accreditation is allowed by JRCERT.

"The reaccreditation of our Diagnostic Imaging program by JRCERT reaffirms the high standards of excellence and commitment to student success that Wallace State strives to maintain,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics. “This achievement underscores the dedication of our faculty and staff to providing exceptional education in the radiologic sciences, preparing our graduates to excel in their careers."

"We are proud to receive the maximum eight-year reaccreditation from JRCERT, which reflects the quality and rigor of our program,” said Jim Malone, director of the Diagnostic Imaging program and Assistant Dean of Health Sciences. “This recognition ensures that our students continue to benefit from a curriculum designed to meet the highest industry standards, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a competitive healthcare field."

The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry. Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in the radiologic sciences.

The Diagnostic Imaging program at Wallace State offers two pathways offering degrees in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Therapy. The Diagnostic Imaging degree can be completed in four semesters and the Radiation Therapy degree in three semesters. Both options require completion of two semesters of prerequisite courses before beginning the program-specific courses.

Both programs accept new students each fall, with applications accepted from March 1 to June 1 each year. Visit www.wallacestate.edu for more information, call 256.352.8334 or email mindie.sandlin@wallacestate.edu.
