Wallace State Triumphs Over Pellissippi State
The Wallace State Lions secured a commanding 95-77 victory over Pellissippi State
at the Pellissippi State Student Recreation Center on Nov. 6, 2024.
Wallace State started the game with an aggressive tempo, quickly establishing dominance
on both ends of the court. Sophomore guard Kami Young led the charge, scoring 12 of
his game-high 23 points in the first half. His ability to navigate Pellissippi's defense
and convert at the free-throw line (7-of-8) kept the Lions in control.
In the paint, sophomore Christian Thompson was a force to be reckoned with. Grabbing
10 of his 15 rebounds in the first half, Thompson's physical presence and efficient
scoring (8-of-10 from the field) gave Wallace State a critical advantage.
The Lions entered halftime leading 52-39, shooting an impressive 53.7 perecent from
the field compared to Pellissippi's 42.9 percent.
Wallace State’s reserves stepped up in the second half, particularly Authur Johnson,
who contributed 12 points and dished out four assists. Freshman forward Viczavious
Madden added 8 points and grabbed five rebounds, providing much-needed hustle and
energy off the bench. The Lions maintained their efficiency from the field, sealing
the game with a 43-point second half.
