Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association is offering an ACT Prep Workshop for area students getting ready to take the ACT.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 26 on the second floor of the Bailey Center. The cost of the workshop is $110 and includes preparation for the math, science and reading and English sections of the ACT test. The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch.

A student’s ACT scores can be used in several ways. ACT scores are sometimes used as part of a college application process. The score can serve as an assessment of the student’s knowledge in the related subjects and be used to correctly place that student in the appropriate college-level courses. ACT scores can be also used in applying for merit-based scholarships and in the selection process for specific college programs. Wallace State does not require an ACT for admission to the college, though some health programs use it for their competitive admission process.

“We hope students taking advantage of the ACT Prep Workshop will find it beneficial to them, whether they are taking the ACT for the first time or if they are repeating to improve their scores,” said LaDonna Allen, Alumni Association Coordinator. “These instructors are very seasoned in ACT preparation and provide a wealth of knowledge, very useful tips and handouts. Many previous participants have contacted me and were thrilled with the enhanced scores they received after taking the workshop.”
