Wallace Stat defeats Gadsden State 67-64 for chance at ACCC Championship

Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Community College men’s basketball team earned a spot in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) men’s basketball tournament with a hard-found battle against Gadsden State.

The Lions came out on top 67-64 in a game where the point difference was never more than five during the entire game. Gadsden State led by one point at 29-28 heading into the second half, but the Lions outscored GSCC 39-35 in the final round to take the win. Field goals and rebounds proved to be the deciding factor in the game, with Wallace State making 46.8 percent of their field goals, compared to Gadsden State and pulling down 37 rebounds compared to Gadsden’s 33.

Freshman guard Jimmie Williams scored 27 points in the game and pulled down nine rebounds and had three assists. Coming off the bench, freshman guard Authur Johnson scored 19 points.

Freshman guard Kendarius Anderson scored eight points. Sophomore center PJ Eason and freshman guard Kami Young each scored five and freshman guard Jalen Carruth scored two, with 10 rebounds.
