Hanceville, AL - Wallace State Community College Softball goes 3-1 in Naples Tournament in Fort Myers, FL.

Wallace State 6, Indian River 2

In an exhilarating clash at the Paradise Cove Tournament, the Wallace State Community College Lions Softball team emerged victorious with a 6-2 win over Indian River State College. The game, held at Fort Myers, showcased the Lions' determination on the field.

From the opening pitch, Wallace State demonstrated their offensive prowess, securing a five-run lead in the second inning. Indian River State College fought valiantly, managing to score runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but Wallace State's early advantage proved insurmountable.

Key players for Wallace State delivered standout performances throughout the game. Caroline Cartron showcased her batting skills, contributing two runs, while Bayleigh Rouse's four runs batted in (RBI) were instrumental in securing the victory. The Lions' defense, led by players like Laura Leigh Wheeler and Jadyn Foster, provided crucial support for their pitcher.

Pitcher Emily Simon led the charge for Wallace State, pitching five solid innings and allowing only two runs. Simon's command of the mound, coupled with the team's cohesive effort, played a pivotal role in clinching the win.

Wallace State 9, Southern Idaho 1

After a 6-1 loss to Florida Southwestern State College in game two of the Naples Tournament, Wallace State bounced back with a 9-1 win over the College of Southern Idaho.

The College of Southern Idaho started strong, scoring a run in the first inning. However, Wallace State quickly turned the tide, holding their opponents scoreless for the remainder of the game while amassing an impressive nine runs of their own.

Key players for Wallace State shone brightly throughout the match. Caroline Cartron led the charge with two runs, followed closely by Bayleigh Rouse, who contributed two runs batted in (RBI) and showcased her power with a home run. Laura Leigh Wheeler also made her mark with a home run of her own and two RBIs, while Brandy Phillips displayed consistency with three hits.

Pitcher Emily Simon delivered a stellar performance on the mound, allowing only one run and striking out seven batters. Simon's command of the game, coupled with the Lions' strong defensive efforts, proved to be the winning formula for Wallace State.

Wallace State 7, Miami Dade College 3

In their final match-up at the Naples Tournament, the Lions defeated Miami Dade College 7-3.

The Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Caroline Cartron led off with a walk and quickly advanced to second on a wild pitch. Bayleigh Rouse, showing her prowess at the plate, doubled to right field, bringing Cartron home. Laura Leigh Wheeler followed suit with a single, driving in Rouse. Jessie Taylor added another run with an RBI single, making it a 3-0 lead for the Lions.

Miami Dade College answered back in the top of the first with two runs. Kiana Kadena and Jimena Kunigami, of Miami Dade, both reached base with singles and eventually scored, narrowing the Lions' lead to just one run.

The Lions continued their offensive onslaught in the second inning. Tessa Word delivered a clutch double, scoring two runs and extending the Lions' lead to 5-2.

Miami Dade College managed to add another run in the third inning but the Lions' defense tightened up, limiting their opponents to just one run.

Katie Simon pitched five innings, allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out an impressive 10 batters. Payton Bailey came in relief, pitching two innings and allowing just one run.

Offensively for the Lions, Caroline Cartron had a standout performance, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Bayleigh Rouse also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
