Hanceville, AL — Wallace State’s men’s basketball team defeated Calhoun Community College on the road 87-81 of Feb. 12, bouncing back from three back-to-back losses to Bishop State, Gadsden State and Shelton State.

Wallace State was led by freshman guard Jimmie Williams, who seemed unstoppable from beyond the arc, draining three-pointers with precision.

Sophomore guards Jalen Anglin and Kelvin Turner complemented Williams' sharpshooting with their own impressive scoring drives, giving Wallace State an early lead.

Calhoun refused to back down, but Wallace State maintained their lead thanks to sophomore center PJ Eason's dominance in the paint and freshman guard Kami Young's clutch three-pointers.

As the game progressed, both teams traded baskets, with each possession growing more intense. Wallace State's defense, anchored by stout rebounding from freshman guard Jalen Carruth and timely steals from freshman guard Arthur Johnson, prevented Calhoun from closing the gap.

In the end, Wallace State secured an 87-81 win over Calhoun Community College.

Williams netted 22 points and seven rebounds and six assists for the fame. Turner followed with 19 points. Anglin scored 16 points and pulled down four rebounds and four assists. Eason pulled down eight rebounds and scored six points. Young scored seven points. From the bench, Carruth scored nine points and Johnson scored eight.

The win puts the Lions up to 20-6 for the season.
