WSCC Women's Basketball team beats Calhoun Community College 90-70
Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Community College women's basketball team claimed a 90-70 victory in a division matchup against Calhoun Community College on Jan. 11, 2024 at Traditions Bank Arena in Tom Drake Coliseum.
In a high-scoring matchup, the Lady Lions showcased their scoring prowess, led by standout performances from Emariah Grant and Jaden Winfrey, who scored 31 and 21 points respectively. Grant's shooting, including four three-pointers, combined with Winfrey's precision from beyond the arc, propelled Wallace State's offense.
Ella Collum of Cullman contributed 14 points, demonstrating her versatility on both ends of the court. Collum's seven assists were instrumental in orchestrating Wallace State's fluid offense, while Layla Etchison of Hoover's defensive plays, coupled with her nine points, bolstered the team's performance.
Defensively, Wallace State forced turnovers, disrupting Calhoun's offensive rhythm, with Nylaa Fuller of Huntsville's nine rebounds and two blocks anchoring Wallace State's defense.
