Wallace State defeats Cleveland State 82-59
Hanceville, AL – The Wallace State men's basketball team secured a resounding victory against Cleveland State Community College with a final score of 82-59.
Wallace State was led by standout performances from freshman guards Authur Johnson and Jimmie Williams, who tallied 20 and 16 points respectively.
Williams, of Cleveland, Ohio, dazzled the crowd with his precise shooting, connecting on 8 of 14 attempts from the field, while Johnson, of Carrolton, Ga., showcased his versatility, sinking four crucial three-pointers to keep the momentum firmly in Wallace State's favor. Sophomore guard Jalen Anglin of Jackson, Tenn., scored 13 points.
Not to be outdone, Wallace State's defensive efforts were equally impressive, with sophomore center PJ Eason of Dadeville, commanding the boards with nine rebounds, coupled with his 10 points contribution. The team's relentless defense stifled Cleveland State's offense, limiting their shooting percentage to 37.7 percent.
Wallace State remained composed and maintained their lead with impeccable ball movement and sharpshooting from beyond the arc, boasting an impressive 60 percent 3-point shooting percentage for the game.
The win brings the Lions record to 12-3 for the season.
