WSCC men’s basketball wins close game against Roane State
Hanceville, AL – In a close matchup between Wallace State Community College men’s basketball team and Roane State Community College, it was Wallace State who emerged with the on-the-road win.
From the tip-off, both teams showcased their skills, trading baskets in a fast-paced first half. Sophomore guard Jimmie Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, led the charge for Wallace State, tallying an impressive 26 points. Wallace State managed to hold a narrow one-point lead at halftime.
The second half saw Wallace State elevate their game, tightening their defense and capitalizing on offensive opportunities. Sophomore center PJ Eason of Dadeville dominated the boards, pulling down a total of 13 rebounds while adding 16 points to his name. Meanwhile, contributions from players like Jalen Anglin and Tyson Walker helped maintain Wallace State's momentum.
Wallace State's sharpshooting from beyond the arc, highlighted by Authur Johnson and Kami Young, helped the Lions maintain their lead and get the win 72-66.
Williams scored 26 points to lead the Lions and pulled down 13 rebounds along with four assists and five steals. Eason scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds. Anglin, a sophomore guard from Jackson, Tenn., scored 10 points. From the bench, Johnson, of Carrolton, Ga., and Young, of Kennesaw, Ga., each scored nine points. Walker, of Des Moines, Iowa, scored two points.
The win brings the Lions record to 7-1 for the season.
