Women's Basketball secures 86-41 win over Georgia Highlands College

Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Community College women's basketball team achieved an 86-41 victory over Georgia Highlands College on November 13, 2024, at Traditions Bank Arena in Tom Drake Coliseum. 

Layla Etchison of Hoover led the Lady Lions with an impressive 25 points, hitting seven of 12 field goals and three of five three-pointers. She also contributed 10 rebounds, achieving a double-double. Emariah Grant of Huntsville followed with 17 points, four of which were three-pointers, and provided six assists. Jaden Winfrey of Cullman added 19 points and secured nine rebounds.

The Lady Lions demonstrated their offensive prowess by shooting 41.7 percent from the field, including 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. Their defensive efforts were equally strong, with 14 total steals.

Wallace State's rebounding was another key factor, as they outperformed Georgia Highlands with 39 rebounds to 27. Nylaa Fuller of Huntsville contributed significantly to this effort with nine total rebounds.
