Wallace State Dominates Marion Military Institute in Home Opener
HANCEVILLE, AL - The Wallace State Community College men's basketball team kicked off their home season in style, securing a convincing 102-71 victory over Marion Military Institute.
From the opening tip-off, Wallace State displayed dominance on both ends of the floor, setting the tone early and never looking back. Led by a stellar performance from sophomore center PJ Eason, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, the Lions asserted their presence in the paint throughout the game.
Freshman guard Tyson Walker showcased his shooting prowess, knocking down three-pointers with precision, contributing 11 points to the team's total. Walker's sharpshooting from beyond the arc ignited the crowd and provided crucial momentum for Wallace State.
Another standout performer for Wallace State was redshirt freshman guard Jimmie Williams. Williams orchestrated the offense with finesse, dishing out 10 assists while also making significant contributions on the defensive end. His ability to distribute the ball effectively kept Marion Military Institute's defense scrambling throughout the game.
Adding to the offensive firepower was freshman guard Kendarius Anderson, whose impressive performance off the bench electrified the crowd. Anderson caught fire from downtown, sinking eight three-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points.
Coach Allen Sharpe’s squad displayed remarkable cohesion and intensity, exemplified by their relentless defensive effort and unselfish ball movement. The Lions capitalized on turnovers, converting them into fast-break opportunities and easy baskets.
Despite Marion Military Institute's efforts to mount a comeback in the second half, Wallace State remained composed and continued to execute their game plan effectively, extending their lead and securing a decisive victory.
